Review: ERGO Baby Carrier

by Crystal Paine

Up until about two months ago, I'd never heard of an ERGO baby carrier. Then, all of a sudden something was published in Above Rubies singing the praises of this baby-wearing device and I started hearing about ERGO's everywhere.

Since I'd tried a couple of different slings and baby carriers, I sort of figured that "you try one, you've tried them all." Well, I was wrong. When New Little Blessing approached me about possibly reviewing an ERGO on my blog and giving one away in a contest, I thought it would be nice to at least find out what everyone had been talking about.

Now I know why everyone was talking. I can't seem to stop talking about ERGOs now that I've tried one -- nor can Jesse. And, Kathrynne would probably be talking about it, too, if her vocabulary was a little larger!

Since Kathrynne is at the stage where she can toddle all around from room to room, climb up on things, and open almost any container, she needs constant supervision. I know I only have one child so it shouldn't be much of a problem, but I have a hard time keeping her out of trouble. I tried putting her in the sling, but she tries to climb out of it and it was also almost near impossible for me to fold laundry or wash dishes (two things I do a lot of) with her in the sling. I also found myself getting very easily tired and sore trying to lug her almost 20-pound-body in the sling.

Introduce the ERGO and so many of my troubles have been solved. Not only is the ERGO so comfortable to wear and easy to put on, but I can wear her on my back so that she is safe with me and I don't have to worry about her getting into anything she shouldn't or hurting herself. In addition, since she is riding on my back, my arms are very free to be able to fold laundry, wash dishes, clean, pick up, or even collate packages for our business shipping. And Kathrynne loves it. She's right with Momma the whole time and we can interact and she can watch and learn as I go about my daily activities.

Although I have only worn the ERGO on my back, you can also very easily switch it to wear on the front (especially good for younger babies) or you can wear it on your hip. It is easily adjustable and it is even machine washable -- how convenient.

Think you might be interested but wish you could try it out before you are committed to buying? Well, New Little Blessing offers a 30-day No-Risk Trial. If you don't like it or it doesn't work for you, they will give you a full refund.
