No More Night

by Crystal Paine

All this morning, the song "No More Night" has been resonating through my head. We attended the funeral of 18-year-old Peter Wagler yesterday. It was a beautiful tribute to a Godly young man who died in the service of his country. His family has been dear friends of mine for many years. His sister and I have been very close since we were 12 years old and she is still such a dear friend, even though I don't get to see her very often.

Every time I attend a funeral, it always causes me to reflect upon my life. I was telling Jesse last night how I want to live each day so that if I were to die tomorrow, I wouldn't have any regrets.

As Christians, we are daily in a spiritual battle. I confess, there are days when I think "I can't do this anymore. I don't have what it takes." In my own strength, I am so inadequate. I fail, I flounder, I fall on my face. But, God is merciful, picks me back up again, and carries me through each day, even when I don't have any strength left to go on.

"No More Night" was sung at Peter's funeral and it was such a balm to my spirit. It is easy to become discouraged or overwhelmed in this present life. Someday, all of our tears will be wiped away, all of our heartache will be lifted, all of our burdens will be gone. "No more night. No more pain. No more tears. Never crying again." Instead, ''We will live in the light of the risen Lamb."

I don't know about you, but some days I just can hardly wait until Heaven. I'm ready to leave this world behind. While God has me here, I want to make the most of it, but when He calls me, I certainly won't look back!
